Pierce Reiten - Legal Content Writer and Strategist

Are you a lawyer or law firm looking to build your winning legal content strategy? I’m a legal content writer and strategist who can help at every step of the process. Keep reading to find out how.

Importance of High-Quality Legal Content

Those who are researching legal content writing can feel skeptical. While you may have heard it’s important, you may still wonder how it benefits your law firm. Let me explain why this is one of the best strategies to grow your presence in the legal field before getting into my exact pricing and service offerings. That said, if you want to skip directly to my services or my prices, click those hyperlinks to go there now.

Grow Your Brand’s Reach

When someone needs legal help, where do they look? 9 times out of 10, I’d bet they go online to look up either:

  1. The specific problem they need help with.
  2. Law firms or lawyers available in their area.

In either case, that’s where you want to show up to give yourself a better chance of landing their business.

It’s the same as how you needed a legal content writer and ended up here. I practice what I preach, and SEO is one of my primary client acquisition strategies. If you’re on this page, I can probably bet you found it through an online search. I’ll get you the same results, just for your legal services instead.

Want Another Example of the Potential Reach of SEO?

Here’s a screenshot of the Google Analytics data for a client I’ve worked with since January 2023.

You’ll need to zoom in on this if you’re on mobile.

At a glance, you’ll see that they started with next to no traffic coming to their website in January. Then, at the end of May (about 5 months in), they were just hitting about 100 clicks per day. That equates to about 3,000 website visits per month.

Most of that traffic is from purely organic SEO strategies and consistent effort. I helped them:

  • Draw up a complete SEO blueprint.
  • Perform keyword research for search terms they could rank for, which were relevant to their audience.
  • Develop SEO-optimized landing pages for their services.
  • Write 2 to 3 SEO-optimized blog posts each week.
  • Build a brand voice through writing that aligns with their mission.

I can help you with all of these steps, too.

Increase Your Authority and Trust

As mentioned earlier, most people nowadays do an online search when they have legal concerns or questions. What’s the best way to stand out as the right option? – By appearing as one of the first results when they type in their query on Google.

That way, whether they search for “lawyer near me” or something along the lines of “how long do I have to file a claim after getting injured on the job?” – you’ll be there front and center, ready to help.

Having high-quality, useful content when they click on your website is especially beneficial. It further cements your authority and makes someone much more likely to choose you as their lawyer. You could say choosing a great writer is an essential decision to optimize for success.

Lasting Results

The last benefit I want to emphasize about high-quality organic SEO content is it provides lasting results. Once you start organically ranking for a keyword on Google, it’s difficult to stop getting traffic from it as long as you’ve used the right technical, on-page, and off-page SEO strategies to get yourself there.

This is why I always recommend SEO over other strategies like social media, where you would have to keep posting consistently to get new eyes on your law firm’s services.

If you want an example of this working, here’s another screenshot of analytics data from the client results I cited earlier. Since the beginning of June, we’ve taken a few months off from organic content writing to brush up on their website’s UX/UI for a better experience when people land on their pages.

You’ll need to zoom in on this if you’re on mobile.

You’ll see from the screenshot above that while we haven’t posted much new content on the website these past three months, their traffic has maintained an average of around 100 clicks per day. Obviously, you’ll see new and continued growth by continuously adding blog posts and pages, but it just helps to show that you’re making an excellent long-term investment.

My Legal Content Writing Services

Now that you know why adding content to your website is important, let me go into more detail about my services that can help. Typically, I like to offer this as a step-by-step approach, but you can also simply pick and choose the services you want based on your needs.

1. Complete Website Audit

This step isn’t mandatory to see results, but it will allow me to collect more data to plan your content strategy more effectively. That said, if you already have a process in place with keywords and a content map and just need a writer, you can skip directly to my writing services.

When I do a website audit, I will typically deliver it in 1 to 2 weeks. I usually budget about 20 hours at my rate of $100 per hour to get the most detailed results. Things I will check for include:

  • Page speed: Faster loading times help decrease bounce rates and boost your rankings in Google.

  • Website UX/UI: I’ll identify ways to improve the user experience when someone lands on your website to help boost the average time on page, leads generated, and conversions.

  • The keywords you’re ranking for: I’ll identify which keywords you’re already ranking for to refine my SEO strategy for what works best for you.

  • Opportunity analysis: I’ll analyze the services you offer to find keyword opportunities you haven’t been targeting but would be able to rank for to generate more traffic.

  • Backlink profile: You’ll get a complete analysis of your current backlink profile to show you how it’s impacting your current rankings. I’ll also outline some strategies to get you more high-quality backlinks to rank even better on search engines.

Once I’ve performed the analysis, I’ll put it all together in a neat and tidy document with all my discoveries and recommendations. You can review it on your own, or we can hop on a Zoom call, and I’ll review everything with you – your choice. Then, we can tackle any next steps you choose to turn your website into an SEO powerhouse.

2. Legal Blog Posts

One of the best ways to boost traffic to your website and increase your domain’s authority is by writing legal blog posts that are relevant to your prospective clients’ needs. I’m well-versed in this type of content as someone who’s been doing legal writing for over 5 years, so I can cover a wide range of topics, including but not limited to:

  • Personal injury law
  • Divorce & custody
  • Criminal law
  • Property law
  • Bankruptcy law
  • Insurance law

When I write articles, I don’t just regurgitate information that’s already out there. I actually take the time to research and bring more value, such as citing past case rulings that I find in reputable online law libraries.

We can also work together (if you’d like to take this approach), and you can provide me with any legal context before writing an article so I can form an accurate representation and opinion in a way that’s understandable for the average reader.

3. Landing Pages

If you need landing pages designed for your services, I can help with that, too. I’ll take a detailed SEO approach to ensure the right keywords are on each page to get your service pages ranking organically.

Plus, I’ll get to know your law firm to understand what you offer and what differentiates you from everyone else.

The final product will be designed to convert the best when prospective clients find your pages.

4. Backlink Building

A big ranking factor in online search is building backlinks to your content. If you don’t know what that means, it’s when other websites post content, such as blogs, and link to one of your posts or pages as a resource. The main strategies I use to generate backlinks are:

  • Writing guest posts
  • Generating links through HARO
  • Skyscraper method

We can set up an ongoing process to get you continuously building new links to your site.

5. UX/UI and Page Speed Improvements

If you have a WordPress website, I also have experience with simple UX/UI fixes that will improve the client experience when they land on your website. Plus, I can help you set up top caching tools to boost your page speed for better rankings.

Most law firms I work with have established websites, so there’s usually not too much to fix here. But it’s certainly a service I can offer when needed or simply recommend what to do on your own.

6. A Full Content Map and Strategy for a Target Keyword

You’ll get this as part of the complete website audit if you choose that service. Otherwise, I also offer this part separately at a lower cost.

What we would do here is choose a specific “pillar” keyword you want to focus on. For instance, it could be something along the lines of “personal injury lawyer San Francisco” that you would like to rank for on search engines.

In that instance, we would create a “pillar page” for your personal injury legal services in San Francisco targeting that keyword. Then, I would use SEO tools like Semrush and Google Trends to identify sub-topics and keywords for supporting articles underneath that topic. The supporting articles will show topical authority, which makes you rank better for the primary keyword.

Typically, we’d aim for somewhere in the range of 25-50 supporting topics to drive traffic and show topical authority. Plus, the content map would help plan ways to interlink these topics to show Google they’re all related, further boosting your rankings.

It would take me around 10 hours to put this all together at my rate of $100 per hour.

My Approach to Writing Legal Content

All of this may sound great, but you’re probably still wondering about my approach while writing. Let me break that portion down in more detail to give you an idea of the steps I take to produce high-quality content for law firms.

  1. The first step is outlining and identifying related keywords. This portion is for on-page SEO. These are keywords that Google will look for to determine that an article is associated with a specific topic. I typically use Semrush and my own manual analysis of Google search results to help me locate semantic keywords that should be included.

  2. After that, I thoroughly outline what I will cover in the article. The goal is to go above and beyond what top search results for a keyword are already covering. For instance, if past case rulings from FastCase or the Public Library of Law can be referenced to provide a deeper analysis. Or just filling in gaps with what isn’t covered thoroughly.

  3. Once the research is completed, I draft the article and go through my thorough editing process. I use the Hemingway App and Grammarly to ensure everything flows well and is easy for the average person to read. I also verbally proofread to ensure everything sounds smooth. Plus, I use a text-to-voice tool as an additional check for any choppiness.

  4. My final step is using DevTools to visualize how the content will look on your website. It helps me format everything in a way that will display well on both desktop and mobile devices for a reader-friendly experience. It’ll help boost the average time on page and reduce bounce rates – both things that’ll help your content rank better.

  5. When the content is ready for review, it will be delivered to you in your choice of a Google Doc or Microsoft Word Document. Any revisions needed are never an issue, and I welcome any and all constructive feedback. It helps me provide better results when I know what you want.

Overall, I use a comprehensive process to provide you with the best possible articles on each topic we cover. It’ll help you stand out that much more when someone comes across your content and needs the help of an attorney.

The Benefits of Hiring a Standalone Legal Content Writer

When you hire me as your legal content writer, you’ll know who you’re getting content from each time. I believe it’s better to take a personalized approach rather than going through an agency that’ll likely outsource the content to other freelancers.

Instead, I’ll personally work with you every step of the way to achieve your desired results. If you need someone who’s a self-starter, I can certainly handle everything on my own and achieve great results.

Otherwise, if you’d like a more personal touch where we hop on regular calls and discuss things to ensure we’re on the same page, I’m good with that, too.

I’ll customize my services to meet your needs.

My Legal Content Writing Prices

I offer many different packages. Depending on your needs, we may need to customize some of these aspects a bit. However, as far as my pricing per word for articles, those rates are non-negotiable. I only want to write high-quality, professionally done articles that I put sufficient time and research into.

Pricing Based on Article Length

My pricing based on the article’s length is as follows:

Pricing Table
Length Price
600 - 800 words $400
800 - 1,000 words $500
1,000 - 1,200 words $600
1,200 - 1,500 words $750
1,500 - 2,000 words $1,000
Over 2,000 words Add an additional $100 per 200 words

Typically, within one content map that I would create for you, we’d do one pillar post that is 1,500 to 2,000 words long, and then the rest of the content would be focused somewhere in the 600 to 1,000 word range.

Legal Services Landing Page Copy

Legal Services Landing Pages

$ 1,000
  • Flat Rate
  • Detailed description of services
  • Make your law firm's branding stand out

If you hire me to write copy for one of your legal services pages, I’ll charge a flat rate of $1,000, no matter the length. I consider those the “money pages,” so they all get a significant amount of thought and time put into them to ensure they convert, and I don’t like to limit them to any specific word count. I’ll write as much or as little as needed for them to be successful.

Complete Website Audit/Content Map

Complete Website Audit

$ 2,000
  • Analysis of current performance
  • Identify opportunities in your niche
  • First content map done for you

If you’d like me to do the complete website audit, it will be a flat rate of $2,000. When you choose that service, you also get a ready-made initial content map that comes with it.

Content Map

$ 1,000
  • Content map based on pillar keyword of your choice
  • Supporting content planned in advance
  • All interlinking opportunities mapped out

If you don’t need the website audit and just want a pre-planned content map, this is the package for you. It’ll provide direction as we begin working together on content. I highly recommend starting here if you don’t have a content strategy ready to go.

Backlink Generation

When you have me help you with backlinks, my rates are as follows.

Guest Posts

Guest Post Outreach + Do-Follow Backlink Generation

$ 300 Per Link + Regular Per Word Pricing
  • Perform outreach to get guest posts on reputable sites
  • Write high-quality guest post content
  • Strategically place do-follow backlinks

I can do outreach to help you land guest posts where you’ll get a do-follow backlink from other websites. My charge would be $300 for acquiring the backlink and then my typical rates listed above to write the guest post article.

HARO Backlinks

Haro Backlinks

$ 100
  • Acquire do-follow backlinks from journalists
  • Easy hands-off process
  • Build domain and brand authority

HARO charges a fee themselves to be able to acquire links through their platform. I’d have you pay for that base fee through HARO. Then, I could handle everything else to get you the links. It’s a relatively straightforward process, so I’d only charge $100 per link I acquire through HARO.
